Surname "Shelby" corroborated - dates still unconfirmed
The maiden name "Shelby" (originally entered with a "?" by the tree's original researcher) is independently corroborated by the Vollie and Ethel Howell family history site, which states: "John married Elizabeth Shelby. The child from this marriage was John Howell" - matching our tree's structure exactly (John Howell b.1624 d.3 Nov 1696, Southampton NY, m. Elizabeth Shelby, son John Howell). However, no confirmed birth/death dates were found for Elizabeth Shelby herself. A WikiTree profile for an "Elizabeth Shelby (1696-1750)" exists but cannot be her - that person was born the same year our John Howell died, so it must be a different generation/individual of the same name.
