Privacy Policy

Hill Family Hub
Website: https://wkeithhill.com
Effective date: July 28, 2026
Last updated: July 28, 2026

Hill Family Hub (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a personal family website operated by Keith Hill for sharing family history, photos, recipes, travel notes, and related projects. This Privacy Policy explains what information appears on the site, what we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

This is a private family site, not a commercial social network. We aim to be transparent and respectful—especially about living people, children, and family records.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to visitors and users of:

  • https://wkeithhill.com and pages under that domain
  • Public family history (genealogy) pages
  • Public photo album and other public media
  • Contact form submissions
  • Optional account access used for private family features (for example, Shared Pictures)
  • Related project pages hosted on this site (for example, cruise information, Tesla Logbook, RootLine / WKH Software information pages)

If we link to third-party sites (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, NCL, Tesla referral links, WordPress.org, etc.), their privacy practices apply on those sites—not this policy.

2. Information that may appear publicly on this site

2.1 Family history and genealogy

We publish genealogical information drawn from family records, GEDCOM data, historical sources, and research. Depending on the person and our settings, public pages may include:

  • Names, relationships, and family links
  • Dates and places of birth, marriage, death, burial, or other events
  • Biographical notes, timelines, sources, and citations
  • Media attached to people or events (photos, documents, headstones, etc.)
  • Research-status information (for example, missing dates or places)

Living people. We try to limit sensitive detail about living individuals. Still, a living person may appear in the tree (for example, as a child, spouse, or parent of someone else). If you are a living person in the tree and want information changed, restricted, or removed, contact us using the details in Section 10.

Deceased people. Historical information about deceased individuals is generally treated as family history and may remain public as part of the archive.

Accuracy. Family history is researched in good faith but may contain errors, incomplete records, conflicting sources, or working hypotheses. Corrections are welcome.

Do not scrape or republish wholesale. Please do not bulk-download, scrape, or republish our tree, media, or research notes without permission. Personal, non-commercial use for your own family research is fine; large-scale reuse is not.

2.2 Family photos and media

Public galleries (including the Photo Album) may show family members, travel, events, and everyday life. Images may include adults and children.

  • Some captions are descriptive; others may be incomplete.
  • A separate Shared Pictures (or similar) area may require login and is intended for family only.
  • We may remove or restrict photos upon a reasonable request from a depicted person or a parent/guardian of a minor.

Please do not download, re-post, or use family photos for commercial purposes, training datasets, or other publication without permission.

2.3 Personal and professional pages

Pages such as About Keith, Caroline, family pages, resume, recipes, trips, and project pages may include:

  • Names, biographical text, and professional background
  • General location (for example, Hattiesburg, Mississippi)
  • Public contact paths (contact form; in some cases email addresses shown on the site)
  • Public social profile links
  • Travel history and cruise-related information we choose to publish
  • Vehicle / telemetry-related information on Tesla Logbook (see Section 5)

Anything intentionally published on a public page is visible to the internet, search engines, and archives.

3. Information we collect from visitors

3.1 Information you send us

If you use the contact form or email us, we may receive:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Subject and message content
  • Any other details you choose to include (family connections, corrections, photo notes, etc.)

We use this information only to respond, evaluate family-history corrections, manage access requests, or handle site-related correspondence. We do not sell this information.

3.2 Account information (if you have a login)

Some areas may require a WordPress or site account (for example, private galleries or contribution features). Account data may include:

  • Username and email address
  • Password (stored as a secure hash, not plain text)
  • Role/permissions and two-factor authentication settings, if enabled
  • Content you upload while logged in

Family accounts are granted by invitation. If you have an account, keep your credentials private.

3.3 Automatically collected technical data

Like most websites, our hosting and server software may automatically log:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and basic device information
  • Date/time of request
  • Pages requested and referring URL
  • Success/error status codes

We use this for security, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and basic operations—not for selling ads.

3.4 Cookies and similar technologies

WordPress and plugins may set cookies when needed, for example:

  • Logged-in session cookies
  • Comment or form-related cookies (if those features are used)
  • Security or preference cookies required for the site to function

We do not currently operate a separate advertising pixel program on this site. If we add analytics or marketing tools later, we will update this policy.

Third parties we load for site functionality (see Section 6) may process technical data under their own policies (for example, font delivery).

4. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Operate and improve Hill Family Hub
  • Display family history, photos, recipes, travel notes, and projects
  • Respond to messages and family-history contributions or corrections
  • Authenticate users and protect private areas
  • Maintain security, prevent spam and abuse, and diagnose problems
  • Comply with legal obligations if required

We do not sell personal information. We do not rent family data or photo libraries to third parties for marketing.

5. Special project areas

5.1 Trips, cruises, and fare information

Trip logs and fare-tracking features may display travel history and pricing information we choose to publish. Fare data may be derived from publicly available cruise pricing and our own travel profile assumptions. This is personal tooling shared for family interest; it is not professional travel advice.

5.2 Tesla Logbook / vehicle telemetry

If Tesla Logbook (or similar) is public, it may show vehicle names, usage summaries, routes or maps, efficiency metrics, and related telemetry we choose to expose. Location-related data can be sensitive. We may limit map detail, delay data, or restrict pages if needed for safety or privacy.

5.3 Software project pages (RootLine / WKH Software)

Product pages describe software we build or publish. If you download software from WordPress.org or another distributor, that platform’s policies also apply. Feedback you send us about software is treated as correspondence under Section 3.1.

6. Third-party services

We may use third-party services to run the site, including:

  • Web hosting / server infrastructure — store and serve the site
  • WordPress and plugins (form, gallery, genealogy, security, etc.) — site features
  • Google Fonts — display fonts
  • Email delivery (server or plugin) — send/receive contact messages
  • Social platforms linked from the site — profiles we link to (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, etc.)
  • External booking or product sites we link to — cruises, Tesla links, plugin directories, etc.

Those providers process data under their own terms. Loading third-party resources (such as fonts or embeds) may allow the provider to see your IP address and basic request metadata.

7. Children and family photos

This site may include photos and limited references to children and grandchildren because it is a family site.

  • We do not knowingly run services directed at collecting personal information from children under 13.
  • We do not ask children to submit contact forms or create accounts.
  • Parents or guardians may request removal or restriction of a child’s image or identifying details by contacting us (Section 10).

We will make reasonable efforts to honor such requests, subject to technical and archival limits (for example, search-engine caches or backups).

8. Sharing of information

We may share information only when:

  • You ask us to (for example, coordinating a family correction)
  • Service providers need it to host or operate the site (hosting, email, security) under obligations to handle it appropriately
  • Required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or security
  • In connection with a site migration we control (for example, moving hosts), with the same family-site purpose

We do not sell visitor or family data.

9. Retention

  • Contact messages: kept as long as needed to respond and maintain a reasonable correspondence history, then deleted or archived at our discretion.
  • Server logs: retained for a limited operational/security period according to host configuration.
  • Genealogy and public content: retained as part of the family archive until we edit or remove it.
  • Accounts: retained while access is active; we may delete inactive family accounts.
  • Backups: may retain deleted content for a limited time until backup cycles expire.

10. Your choices and requests

You may request that we:

  • Correct inaccurate information about you in the family tree or on a bio page
  • Remove or limit public details about you as a living person
  • Remove or restrict photos in which you (or your minor child) appear
  • Delete contact-form information you previously submitted, where feasible
  • Close a family account you no longer want

How to contact us for privacy requests:
Use the contact form on https://wkeithhill.com/contact/
or email: wkeithhill@gmail.com
Subject line suggestion: Privacy request – Hill Family Hub

Please include enough detail for us to find the content (URL, person’s name in the tree, photo description, approximate date). We may need to verify that you are the person (or parent/guardian) concerned.

We will respond within a reasonable time. Some historical or multi-person materials may be edited rather than fully erased (for example, a group photo, or a parent link needed for another relative’s page). We will explain what we can and cannot change.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate for a personal WordPress site (HTTPS, access controls for private areas, security-related plugins/configuration, and similar practices). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use strong unique passwords for any account we issue and enable multi-factor authentication when available.

If you believe you found a security issue affecting personal data on this site, contact us promptly using Section 10.

12. International visitors

The site is operated from the United States (Mississippi area / U.S. hosting). If you visit from another country, you understand that information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.

If you are in a region with specific privacy rights (for example, certain access, correction, or deletion rights), contact us and we will make a good-faith effort to honor applicable requests for a personal family site of this scale.

13. Do Not Track / advertising

We do not currently use the site to build advertising profiles or sell ads. Browser “Do Not Track” signals are not standardized; our practices are described in this policy rather than tied to DNT headers.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the site grows (new features, hosting changes, analytics, private family tools, etc.). The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you should review the revised policy. For material changes affecting how we handle personal data, we may also note the change on the site.
