Wallace Winfred Wester, 75, of Grand Ridge died Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Clifford Chester Sims Veterans Nursing Home in Panama City.
Wallace was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, Florida, born November 3, 1946 to the late Robert Wester and Lillian Tharp. He graduated from Grand Ridge High School, served more than 13 years in the U S Army. Wallace served active duty in two tours of duty in Vietnam, one tour in Germany and finished his tenure in the army stateside.
Wallace was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 12046, serving as Commander for four years. He was also a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and a member of the Alford American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Laura Robbirds.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Ruth Wester; one son, Robert Wester of Dothan; one daughter, Sharon Justiss (Mark) of Crestview; one brother, Dennis Tharp (Martha) of Cypress; two sisters, Elizabeth Alford of Shady Grove and Marty Carr (Bennie) of Cypress; four grandchildren, Kara Andreasen and Cayla Andreasen both of Pensacola; Christopher Justiss of South Carolina and Tyler Justiss of Crestview; one great-granddaughter, Alyvia Andreasen.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Donnie Hussey officiating. Interment will follow in Cypress Cemetery with Military Honors. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel will be directing.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, from 1-2 PM, one hour prior to the funeral at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
