6th Alabama Infantry Regiment, Company A roster (rootsweb, sourced from Rick Richter) confirms: George Washington Armstrong, 1st Lieutenant, born 16 Sep 1830 in Cumberland County NC (matches tree exactly), killed in action 31 May 1862 at the Battle of Seven Pines, Virginia. Son of William Armstrong (1784-1864) and Mary Ann King (1795-1870), married 30 Mar 1815 Cumberland Co NC. George never married, no issue.
